Paraguay X Brazil X Argentina

Iguazu Falls is the largest waterfall in the world, and right next to it is a sizable urban agglomeration dispersed through three different countries: Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina. While relations between the countries are stable, social interactions between the three neighboring cities are limited as access is limited. Might it be advantageous for further integration?

This proposal introduces a pedestrian and micromobility bridge that unites the three different cities, and their respective countries, into a more connected region. Projecting high arches that do not disrupt that large cargo ships that pass through the river, a circular public space meets at the middle point between the three countries. At the apex, the pathways circumscribe a retooled amphitheater that centers around a circular based three-hoop court. Inbetween the paths and the court is a mezzanine that mediates the transitional nature of the pathways and the leisurely nature of the amphitheater and court. The court’s colours are extracted from the three primary colours that all three of the respective countries’ flags feature. The thematic three is also leveraged in producing three small canopies, three enclosed spaces for a cafe, recording studio, and small library, and three sloped relaxation areas.
